Compared to overseas imports (like Brazil), we reduce our carbon footprint by more than 70%. More importantly, our proximity allows the fruit to reach peak ripeness on the tree, resulting in an unmistakable texture and aroma. Additionally, the size of our papayas makes them perfect for sharing.

We believe in “Made in Spain” as a mark of distinction; with over 66 hectares, we are the largest papaya producer in Europe.

Smooth, sweet, aromatic, and truly tropical. That is what defines Bonnysa’s papaya. Enjoy its flavour paired with a unique texture. You can let it ripen for a couple of days at room temperature to achieve maximum sweetness. You will notice its colour changing from green to a light orange. When touched, it should be slightly soft, and when sliced, it should feel silky.

Due to its mild flavour and soft texture, Bonnysa’s papaya is the perfect fruit for introducing solid foods to babies. You will love it as a dessert, as a smoothie base, or for preparing surprising recipes. Its great nutritional properties help improve digestion and control fat absorption. Eat it as is, chilled from the fridge, or with a few drops of orange or lemon juice… always delicious.

Improves Digestion: Bonnysa’s papaya contains an enzyme called papain, which helps break down food proteins, easing the digestive process. It is perfect for fighting constipation and bloating. Additionally, choline helps combat arthritis and muscle pain.

If you want to speed up the ripening process, place the papaya in a paper bag to trap the ethylene gas it emits. Adding an apple or a banana to the bag can accelerate the process even further.

Did you know the seeds are edible?

They are usually removed from the fruit, but they are edible and have a spicy flavour (similar to black pepper). In some cultures, they are consumed to eliminate intestinal parasites and protect the kidneys.

Store in a cool, dry place. It is best kept in a fruit bowl.

Instructions:

  • Slice the papaya in half lengthways to reveal the seeds.
  • Scoop out the seeds using a spoon and discard them.
  • Peel the skin using a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife.
  • Slice or cube the flesh into bite-sized pieces as desired.
  • Trim any remaining skin or tough edges from the base.

To best enjoy the flavour of your papaya, serve chilled with a squeeze of fresh lime.
